There are a number of other noirs that are eventually going to end up as part of the Perfect 10 Reviews section, so I figured I might as well start with the one that was going to be the most difficult for me to write.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07134196370913749544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-578997264816756307.post-89631319006617588452009-05-19T02:14:00.000-04:002009-05-19T02:14:00.000-04:00Hi Dave. You have deftly identified the quintessential noir motifs, Mainwaring's contribution, and the importance of Mitchum's persona.

I think Tourneur's elegant mise-en-scene deserved more discussion and Nick Musuraca's brilliant lensing should have been acknowledged. Jane Greer's seminal performance merits a higher profile too.

This said, I admit to not having yet been able to write a full review of Out of the Past, for the very reason you identify: the better the movie the harder it is to write a review. So I doff my fedora to you for admirably tackling what I have yet to manage.Tony D'Ambrahttp://filmsnoir.netnoreply@blogger.com
